Academic Engagement for 21st CLCC and Expanded Learning - Webinar
Education Northwest and ODE are offering the first in a series of free technical assistance webinars for Oregon 21st Century Community Learning Center grantees and other educators developing Expanded Learning Opportunities on Tuesday, January 21st 10:00 to 11:30am PST

Who should participate?
Afterschool site directors and program staff developing their approaches to expanded student academic engagement. Experienced expanded learning staff seeking additional strategies and targeted assistance in refining their approaches.

When registering, you will have an opportunity to submit a question or problem of practice related to academic engagement. This is a great opportunity to get input from your fellow grantees about how to approach key issues related to school partnership, program content and delivery, and student motivation.

What will I learn?
This webinar will explore proven and promising practices for effectively promoting student academic engagement. Combining latest research and the expertise of veteran Oregon grantees, participants will:
  • Explore three core strategies and promising practices for promoting academic engagement.
  • Hear how Oregon 21st CCLC programs are putting these strategies into action in innovative ways.
  • Ask veteran grantees for input on specific problems of practice.
  • Receive recommended materials to help explore these topics further.
Three experienced Oregon 21st CCLC afterschool program grantees will share examples of how their programs promote academic engagement through partnership, programming, and student engagement:
  • Jill Long, McMinnville School District
  • April Olson, Gresham-Barlow School District
  • Kati Stenstrom and Tony Broadous, Metropolitan Family Services

The webinar will be archived for future viewing. If you cannot attend the live webinar, you may still submit problems of practice that you would like the presenters to discuss by email eMail.
