Oregon's State Network of Educators (SNE)

A group of Oregon state educators will begin identifying resources to assist states' transitions to the new Common Core State Standards and accompanying assessments. This group, the State Network of Educators (SNE), is composed of 85 educators and administrators from K-12 schools and higher education. Oregon's SNE will join more than 2,000 educators from SNEs across the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, a group of 25 states, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, working on tests and teaching resources aligned to the Common Core standards.

Specifically, the SNE will inform the design and development of the Smarter Balanced Digital Library, which will include instructional resources and professional learning support for teaching English language arts (ELA) and math. The library is expected to be completed in mid-2014.

Oregon's SNE members were selected from an applicant pool of about 400. SNE members have expertise in:
  • The Common Core State Standards for ELA and math
  • Science and Social Sciences
  • English language learners
  • Students with disabilities
  • Talented and gifted education
  • Career and technical education
  • Alternative education
  • Formative assessment (e.g., collecting evidence of student learning as it is taught and using it to adjust instruction)
