Training Requirements for STCs and TA's - 2012-13

School test coordinators (STCs) and test administrators (TAs) must receive annual training on test administration and security. New for 2012-13: to better ensure consistent and valid administration of the Oregon Statewide Assessments, districts must use the ODE-provided 2012-13 training modules when training STCs and TA's. These training modules will be posted to http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=2744 by Friday, August, 10. While districts may include additional materials in their STC and TA trainings, at a minimum the following ODE-provided modules are required:
  • For School Test Coordinators (STCs):
    • Module 2 - School Test Coordinators
    • Module 3 - Test Administrators
    • Module 4 - Accommodations
    • Module 5 - Test Security
    • Module 6 - OAKS Online
    • Module 7 - English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA)
    • Module 8 - Writing Performance Assessment
  • For Test Administrators (TAs):
    • Module 3 - Test Administrators
    • Module 4 - Accommodations
    • Module 5 - Test Security
    • Module 6 - OAKS Online (required for TAs administering OAKS Online, including the Braille Interface)
    • Module 7 - ELPA (required for TA's administering the ELPA)
    • Module 8 - Writing (required for TA's administering the Writing Performance Assessment)

In addition to using the ODE-provided training modules, STC and TA training must provide an opportunity to ask questions and receive clarification. When allocating time to administer the training, DTCs should keep in mind that each training module takes between 10 - 15 minutes to deliver. TA's who will administer either the Extended Assessment or OAKS through the Braille Interface must also receive specialized training from ODE in addition to receiving test administration and security training from the district. These training requirements are described in Part II - Test Administration Roles of the 2012-13 Test Administration Manual (available at http://www.ode.state.or.us/go/tam). For tips on how to ensure that all TA's receive the required training, see http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?=2444.
