SMARTER-Balanced Releases Draft Content Specifications for Mathematics - Provide Group and Individual Input! |
The SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) released draft content specifications in Mathematics for public comment and review. Based on the Common Core State Standards, the content specifications provide a framework for the development of the SMARTER Balance’s core assessment system.
During this two month period, the Consortium will make both the mathematics and ELA/literacy content specifications available for two rounds of public comment and review – feedback on the first draft of the ELA literacy specifications closes today. Interested stakeholders are invited to provide feedback during the first round on the mathematics content specifications through Monday, September 19. The content specifications, surveys, and a recorded Webinar walkthrough of the draft Mathematics specifications document are available on the Consortium’s Website at: http://www.k12.wa.us/SMARTER/Resources.aspx. In addition to individual and group feedback submitted directly to SBAC, ODE specialists (Mark Freed and James Leigh) will coordinate feedback on behalf of the state. Being an SBAC governing state, ODE has several staff serving on SBAC work groups [Accommodations (Dianna Carrizales), Item Development (Kathleen Vanderwall), Reporting (Mark Freed) and Research (Steve Slater)] who will also use this level of feedback in their roles. Individuals and groups who want to provide input to ODE’s specialists coordinating Oregon’s response to SBAC, should email a PDF of their completed survey form to Carla Martinez (carla.martinez@state.or.us ![]() In summary, during the first round of input on the Mathematics content specifications there are two ways to give input:
