Thank You to Those Who Inspire, Teach, and Lead – National Teacher Appreciation Week

Statement by Susan Castillo:

"The first week in May marks National Teacher Appreciation Week, making now the ideal time to deepen our support and appreciation for the work that our teachers do every day. Thanks to our teachers here in Oregon, we are seeing rising student achievement and improving graduation rates as students exit high school prepared for college and careers, ready to tackle the challenges of citizenship in the 21st century.

"Even during these trying economic times, with public education facing so much uncertainty, teachers arrive in their classrooms every morning committed to doing their best for their students. That, to me, is the definition of a hero.

"On behalf of all Oregonians, I want to thank our teachers for their passion, their creativity, their resilience, and most of all, their dedication to ALL our children."
