Definition: Learning in and through the arts prepares students for a life enriched through engagement in the creative process, an appreciation of aesthetics and an understanding of the relationships between the arts and society. Arts literacy enhances a student's communication, analytical thinking, problem solving and multi-cultural awareness.

Accountability: Student accountability for these standards began in 2006-07.  Individual schools/districts are responsible for establishing performance requirements in the Arts.
