New Diploma Requirements Task Forces   New Diploma Requirements Task Forces

Oregon has changed the high school diploma, strengthening requirements in math, science, career and technical skills - giving our children what they need for success in school, work and life. Explore this website to learn more about the new requirements and what you can do to help ensure your child is ready.

In January 2007, the State Board of Education approved new high school graduation requirements. To ensure successful implementation of the new diploma requirements the Board is engaging stakeholders and practitioners by convening implementation task forces. These task forces, established by the Department of Education, will address issues concerning the new diploma and make recommendations to the State Board and the Department.

Beginning in summer 2007, each group will meet periodically over the course of 18-24 months. Membership on these task forces will represent a wide range of Oregon stakeholders, drawn from K-12 education, community colleges, Oregon University System, and include students, parents, members of Oregon's Legislature, business sector and community organizations. In addition, the Transition Advisory Committee of the State Advisory Council for Special Education will address potential impacts of the diploma on students with disabilities.
