Exemplars of Career-Related Learning Standards (CRLS) and Extended Application Standard (EA) Collections of Evidence

This Web page includes samples of CRLS and EA collections of evidence. Through school, community, or workplace experiences, students develop collections that demonstrate evidence of the Career-Related Learning Standards and Extended Application Standard and are related to their education plans and post-high school goals. A collection of evidence is a culmination of student work that displays how the student has met the CRLS, EA, or both.

The two samples of work included on this Web page were chosen as exemplars by Oregon teachers. Exemplars are samples of student work that illustrate the various ways in which students are able to demonstrate achievement of the standards. By reviewing exemplars, teachers and students gain clarity on how the score points in the CRLS and EA Scoring Guides are reflected in actual student work. Additionally, teachers can use exemplars with students as models for student performance. The exemplars included on this Web page include detailed annotations that describe the location and quality of the evidence as it relates to the standards.

The CRLS and EA sufficiency guidelines and scoring guides are also included on this Web page. The sufficiency guidelines explain the type of evidence students must gather and exhibit in order to show they have gained mastery of the standards. The scoring guides provide criteria for scoring CRLS and EA collections of evidence.

Instructions

Step 1: Review the CRLS and EA sufficiency guidelines and scoring guides to develop a clear understanding about the requirements for a CRLS and EA collection of evidence.

Step 2:

Review the annotations for the exemplars. These annotations describe where evidence of the standards is found in the student collections and explain the quality of the evidence.

Step 3:

Review the exemplars paying particular attention to pages that have an icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The icons signify there is an annotation written for the evidence on that page. As you review the samples of student work, you may want to click on an icon to be brought back to the annotation.
