Are the kids in your after school program still hungry after eating a snack? Would it be better if you could serve them a meal instead of a snack? The Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Program has a solution for you!
Oregon is one of eight states in the United States that is authorized to reimburse Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsors for after school suppers through the CACFP At-Risk Supper Program. We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity.
Through the After school At-Risk Supper Program school districts can serve a meal, or 'supper', to children attending after school academic or enrichment programs located in qualifying school areas with 50% or more children eligible for free or reduced price meals. Meals can also be claimed on non-school days during the academic year. The reimbursement rates are $2.3475 per supper for school age children through age 18.
School districts can also sponsor sites of community organizations, such as boys & girls clubs, that are located in qualifying low-income school areas. For a list of qualifying school areas click here or visit our website at: http://www.ode.state.or.us/services/nutrition/cacfp/afterschool/
After school At-Risk Supper Program sponsors must attend a mandatory training to participate in the program. The next training is scheduled for January 7, 2004. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, complete and return the enclosed registration form .
