The following commercial products containing alternate protein products (APPs) are now creditable in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. If you want to serve commercial meat substitute products as a meat/meat alternate component in reimbursable meals, select from the following list of approved items. The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) will add items to the list as we receive qualifying documentation from manufacturers.
Meat substitute products are not included in the USDA Food Buying Guide. Only the items in the list provided here are creditable at this time. Tofu, soymilk and soy "yogurt" are still not creditable meat/meat alternates in the CACFP.
