Private Schools Registration Update
Due to passage of Senate Bill 26 during the 2011 Legislative session there is no longer a process for private prek-12 schools to register with the Oregon Department of Education. Although private prek-12 schools no longer register, the process for Child Care Licensing remains in effect.

Oregon School Directory
The Oregon School Directory lists phone numbers, addresses, and key staff people in all public district and schools in the state. Schools may update their information throughout the school year but most institution updates take place July 1 at the end of the fiscal year.
Private Schools and Special Education
Parentally Placed Private School Students
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) some special education and related services may be available for children with disabilities enrolled by parents in nonprofit private elementary and secondary schools. This section provides additional information and guidance for parents, private schools, and public schools about the availability of these services, and includes the U.S. Department of Education’s most recent set of Questions and Answers about Parentally Placed Private School Students, issued in April 2011.

District and ECSE Placed Private School Students
Oregon public school districts and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs may place children in, or refer children to, private schools or private preschools as a means of providing special education and related services. Private schools providing these services must meet specific state public education standards. Information in this section includes a list of private schools and preschools currently approved as providers and application forms for private schools interested in exploring eligibility.
