Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling
Each school district in Oregon is expected to have a comprehensive guidance and counseling program (CGC) in place to support students' transitions throughout school, achievement of the diploma requirements, and preparation for post-high school next steps. Comprehensive guidance and counseling programs promote successful transitions by providing opportunities for each student to acquire and master critical academic, career, personal/social, and community involvement skills.
Preparing each student for advanced learning, work and citizenship.
Oregon Skill Sets
The Oregon Skill Sets are lists of the things students need to know and be able to do in order to be successful in Oregon’s educational and career environments.
Reading First - Title I-B1
Reading First (Title 1B) is a federal initiative with the overarching goal of helping every child become a successful reader by grade 3.
Each subject area page includes information on content and performance standards (where applicable) as well as links to professional organizations and teaching resources.
Lexiles in Oregon
The Lexile Framework provides a common, developmental scale for matching reader ability and text difficulty. Recognized as the most widely adopted reading measure, Lexiles enable educators, parents and students to select targed materials that can improve reading skills and to monitor reading growth across the curriculum, in the library and at home.

The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) are a set of standardized, individually administered measures of early literacy development. They are designed to be short (one minute) fluency measures used to regularly monitor the development of pre-reading and early reading skills.
Oregon School Library Information System - OSLIS
OSLIS provides admittance to the EBSCO online periodical database through which thousands of non-fiction articles (all with lexiles assigned) can be accessed. Elementary and secondary research skills tutorials are also available. All Oregon schools, both public and private, can use the OSLIS resources at no charge.
