Hospital Education Programs

News Announcements

The primary purpose of Hospital Education Programs is to provide instruction to students while they are hospitalized for either short-term or long-term care. Education services are provided by Multnomah ESD and Willamette ESD under contract with the Oregon Department of Education, and in cooperation with respective hospital authorities. Students eligible for this program are served by hospitals which meet criteria established by law.

Hospital Education Programs serve students from throughout Oregon. Services may include: continued connection and communication with the student's home district; instruction and related services with an emphasis on core curriculum subjects within the regular school curriculum; specially designed instruction as described in an eligible student's Individualized Education Program (IEP); tutoring to maintain educational progress; and follow-up plans to facilitate the student's transition and re-entry into school following hospitalization.
