Oregon Head Start Prekindergarten
State funded Oregon Head Start Prekindergarten programs focus on early learning and offer experiences that enhance children’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development. Programs are available in all 36 counties and follow federal Head Start performance standards. Grantees serve low-income children, 3-5 years old, and their families.
Full-Day Kindergarten
The goal of full-day kindergarten is to increase quality learning time for young students. The research is clear that extended time must be quality time in order to impact student achievement. A program model with articulated, desired outcomes assures program focus and direction. Alignment between instruction and assessment must be apparent.
