PD Portal for the Oregon K-12 Literacy Framework Now Open!
The Literacy Leadership State Steering Committee (LLSSC) coordinates Oregon's efforts to improve literacy pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The Governor and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction jointly appoint members from the public and private sectors based on involvement and expertise in literacy. The
Guidance for the Reading First Program––U.S. Department of Education, April 2002
describes the purpose of the committee and the criteria for membership.
Oregon Literacy Plan
The Oregon Literacy Plan is designed to ensure that in their first 18 years, young Oregonians will develop strong literacy skills that will prepare them for school, college, and career.
Oregon K-12 Literacy Framework
The purpose of the Oregon K -12 Literacy Framework is to ensure that all Oregon students read at grade level or above as soon as possible after entering school and that they progress at grade-level or above in content area reading throughout their school career.
