e-Rate Program Technology Planning

The first step for most schools, school districts and public libraries that intend to apply for e-Rate discounts is to prepare a technology plan. Technology plans are required for all eligible services but basic telephone service. A tech plan sets out how technology will be used to achieve specific curriculum reforms or improvements in library service, and should be updated every three years at a minimum.

Technology plans in Oregon must be approved by the Department of Education (for schools and school districts) or the State Library (public libraries). No technology plan is required if you are applying for e-Rate discounts on basic local and long distance telephone service.
