The Education Programs and Assessment section in the Student Services Unit manages several of the state-supported systems that provide direct services to Oregon's programs, districts, and schools. The overall goal of this unit is to build capacity and improve systems and outcomes for diverse learners.

  • Oregon's Alternate (Extended) Assessment
    Oregon's Extended Assessments are alternate assessments that are linked to grade level content standards. The Extended assessments measure the performance of students with significant cognitive disabilities against alternate performance standards.
  • Secondary Transition for Students with Disabilities
    The IDEA of 2004 requires the consideration of transition needs for students beginning not later than the first IEP to be in effect when the student is 16, and updated annually thereafter.
  • Youth Corrections/Juvenile Detention Education Programs
    The Oregon Department of Education is responsible for providing educational services to youths in the Oregon Youth Authority Correctional and County Juvenile Detention Facilities, within Oregon.
  • Long Term Care and Treatment Education Programs
    The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) contracts with local educational agencies to provide education programs for students who have been placed by other state agencies in day and residential treatment facilities.
