Oregon FIRST Robotics Grant

FIRST is an international program with the stated mission to:

“…inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”

The Oregon FIRST Robotics Grant supports FIRST Lego League (FLL), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) programs through a competitive grant managed by the Oregon Department of Education. Grants applications are normally available in May for the following school year. The purpose of this grant is to:
  • Increase the number of students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related careers.
  • Elevate community involvement through mentorship and sponsorship of FIRST teams.
  • Increase the opportunities for Oregon students in 4th - 12th grades to participate in FIRST programs with a focus on underserved students and rural communities.
