Re: Correction to minimum formula amounts offered to Infants 4-7 months
It has come to our attention that there is an error on the Child Care Food Program Infant Food Chart. For Center sponsors, there is also an error in the USDA CACFP Center Manual, “Big Red”, on page 9.3 “Infant Meal Pattern Chart”.
On the Infant Food Chart, for infants age 4-7 months, the amount of Iron Fortified Formula (IFF) or Breast Milk offered for snack should be changed to 4-6 oz. Make changes to any charts you have in your office. If you have ordered Infant Food Charts from the Oregon Department of Education since the January 1, 2008, you have received Infant Food Charts with this change.
Center Sponsors Only: Please make the following “Pen and Ink” changes on page 9.3 to all copies of “Big Red” that you have:

For infants 4-7 months
Breakfast: Change the amount from 4-6 to 4-8 ounces of Iron-Fortified Formula or Breast Milk.
Lunch or Supper: Change the amount from 4-6 to 4-8 ounces of Iron-Fortified Formula or Breast Milk.
Snack: 4-6 ounces of Iron-Fortified Formula or Breast Milk as shown in the chart is correct. |
The
attached chart 
lists the correct amounts of Infant Formula or Breast Milk to be offered to infants. Family Day Care Home sponsors may distribute this chart to providers.
Please inform staff and providers of the error. Since the minimum amount of formula has not changed, this should not have a major impact on current practices.
