Oregon public school districts and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs may place children in, or refer children to, private schools or private preschools as a means of providing special education and related services. Private schools providing these services must meet specific state public education standards.

2013-14 Renewal Applications
Private schools currently approved by ODE, Office of Student Learning and Partnerships (OSL&P), may submit a renewal application to maintain approval after current approval expires on August 14 of each approval year. Renewal applications from currently approved schools are accepted beginning April 1 for the following school year.

Renewal application for approval to provide special education services to school-age children with disabilities (or combination of preschool and school-age).

Initial Applications
Private schools intending to become a provider must apply to ODE, Office of Student Learning and Partnerships (OSL&P). The annual approval period begins on August 15 of each year. ODE accepts new applications throughout the year for the current school year. The initial approval period is the date of ODE’s notification of approval until August 15 of the current year. Renewal applications are provided to currently approved schools for the following school year.
