CCSS Toolkit: Administrators - Explore Connections

CCSS Toolkit
Oregon's goal for public education is to prepare each student to transition successfully to his/her next steps. This means that students need to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors to prepare them to enter college and the workforce and to compete in the global economy.

To support this goal, in 2007 the State Board of Education adopted more rigorous diploma requirements, increasing the number of credits needed to graduate and requiring that students demonstrate proficiency in certain Essential Skills.

These 21st century skills are embedded at each grade level within the Common Core. They help students acquire knowledge and skills in academic and career and technical studies, and apply what they learn in practical situations. Students learn and apply essential skills across the curriculum in all subject areas, both in the classroom and outside of school.
