CCSS Toolkit: Administrators - Learn About the Standards

CCSS Toolkit
The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are aligned with Oregon's diploma requirements and create a seamless transition from kindergarten to high school graduation. The ultimate goal is to prepare students for success in postsecondary education and the workforce.

The State Board of Education formally adopted the CCSS in October 2010. These new standards replace Oregon’s current standards in English language arts and mathematics.

The CCSS are nationally and internationally benchmarked and provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn in K-12 Mathematics, English language arts, and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers.

State law (OAR 581-022-1210) requires that all districts provide a curriculum aligned with the content standards adopted by the State Board of Education.
