RTI Initiative 2013 - 2014 District Applications
Definition:
RTI is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and intervention matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about change in instruction or goals and applying child response data to important educational decisions (NASDSE, 2005). RTI is a process described in IDEA 2004 for identifying students with learning disabilities. For more information about RTI please see the Technical Assistance Paper OrRTI Guidance by Tigard-Tualatin School District.
Goal
:
Oregon's RTI Initiative (OrRTI) is intended to provide skills and knowledge districts need to build systemic, accurate, and sustainable academic support for all students; and provide guidance to districts to support implementation of IDEA policy for RTI.
History
:
In 2005-2006, ODE partnered with
Tigard-Tualatin School District (TTSD)
to lead
OrRTI
and provide training and technical assistance to participating districts. TTSD has developed a "Response to Intervention" (RTI) training program for ODE, as well as assisted 42 school districts with implementation. New districts are added to this program every year in an effort to reach all parts of the state. More information about ODE and Tigard Tualatin’s OrRTI program is available
