Enclosed is a policy memo issued by USDA for National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program sponsors. Please review this memo carefully for aspects that pertain to your meal program(s).

  1. Schools Program Policy Memo 25-2010: Questions and Answers on Extending Categorical Eligibility to Additional Children in a Household


    2. Provides questions and answers relating to policy memorandum SP 38-2009, Extending Categorical Eligibility to Additional Children in a Household, dated August 27, 2009, which extended categorical eligibility for free meals or free milk for children who are members of a household receiving assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) or the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Program. All Child Nutrition Programs are subject to this policy.

  2. Technical Assistance Policy Memo 06-2010: Notification that Best Express Foods, Inc., Distributed Unauthorized Child Nutrition (CN) Labeled Products


    3. Best Express Foods, Inc. has distributed closed-face sandwich-type products with unauthorized CN Labels. The Best Express Foods, Inc. facility located in Williamston, Michigan (USDA Establishment (EST) Number 20735 / P20735), does not currently operate under an Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS)-approved Quality Control (QC) Program required by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for participating in the voluntary CN Labeling Program.
