Project Descriptions for the 2009-2012 grant cycle will be posted after the new grantee awards are announced in December, 2009.

  • Community 101 at Oregon Community Foundation    
    The Oregon Department of Education, The Oregon Community Foundation and the PGE Foundation will continue to collaborate in support of Community 101 as part of ODE’s Learn & Serve program for 2009-12. Community 101 is a youth involvement program that teaches students the importance of service and philanthropy, while empowering them to directly impact Oregon communities through grant-making. The program is administered by The Oregon Community Foundation and the PGE Foundation. This partnership integrates community engagement and student philanthropy as part of ODE’s support of Service Learning instruction.

    This resource contains ideas to help Service-Learning teams assess needs, plan effective projects, strengthen student reflection and build strong community partnerships. It also includes resource links to informative web sites for each Service Season & Special Event.
  • Corvallis: 2008 - 09 Special & Continuing Project

    • Pre-Apprenticeship & Service Learning: Partnering for Careers and the Economy (Corvallis) Media Player   
      Corvallis School District Teachers and Construction Apprentice trainers collaborated to design common skills, outcomes and training for high school students. Students applied and interviewed to be selected for the project. High School students learned construction trade and safety skills, participated in pre-apprenticeship training at the Oregon and Southern Idaho Laborer Employers' Training Center and completed Service-Learning projects. This short video reveals student growth and action before, during and after the Service-Learning and pre-apprenticeship training that will continue and expand in the 2009-2012 grant cycle..
