School Health Index
The School Health Index (SHI): Self-Assessment & Planning Guide 2012 is an online self-assessment and planning tool that schools can use to improve their health and safety policies and programs. It's easy to use and completely confidential. The SHI was developed by CDC in partnership with school administrators and staff, school health experts, parents, and national nongovernmental health and education agencies.

School-Based Obesity Prevention Strategies for State Policymakers
Schools play a critical role in preventing childhood obesity. The Division of Adolescent and School Health recently released a strategy document, School-Based Obesity Prevention Strategies for State Policymakers, designed to assist program coordinators in their efforts to inform and engage governors, state agencies, and state boards of education on how they can help address childhood obesity. This document offers recognized physical activity and healthy eating, strategies, undertaken by states that have shown promise in helping schools address and prevent childhood obesity. Influenza is unpredictable and preparation and planning is critical. We can’t stop the flu but we can reduce the number of people who become very ill by preparing well and acting effectively.
