Essential Skills and Oregon Diploma Logos
Work Samples and Local Performance Assessments
When the State Board approved OAR 581-022-0615 Assessment of Essential Skills in June 2008, they provided for the continued use of work samples under the new graduation requirements. Under the new OAR, students may use work samples to meet both the Essential Skills graduation requirement and the annual local performance assessment requirement.

DISCS (Dynamic Interactive Scoring Calibration System)
The Dynamic Integrated Scoring Calibration System (DISCS) is an online scoring guide training tool designed to aid educators in calibrating to the Oregon Official State Scoring Guides in the Essential Skills of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
Assessment of Essential Skills Toolkit
The Oregon Department of Education is pleased to announce the Assessment of Essential Skills Toolkit - a web-based interactive planning system. The Toolkit will help districts and high schools develop a local plan for assessing the Essential Skills by guiding them through a series of 10 Steps. After completing the steps in the Toolkit, each user may use the information to create a plan for their district.
