Stay Informed Throughout the Flu Season

Protect yourself, your family and your co-workers by getting vaccinated and staying informed. The fewer of us who get sick from either seasonal influenza or pandemic H1N1 influenza, the more we can reduce the impact in our schools and workplaces. News Announcements

Schools have an important role to play this fall and winter in helping keep their communities safe. This website is designed as a resource for K-12 schools to help them prepare. Influenza is unpredictable and preparation and planning is critical. We can’t stop the flu but we can reduce the number of people who become very ill by preparing well and acting effectively. This website contains a number of resources for educators, including the latest CDC guidance and a communications tool kit for schools.

School Closure is currently not recommended as a strategy for reducing the spread of H1N1. The current CDC guidance for schools includes: encouraging H1N1 vaccines; staying home when sick; separating ill students and staff; practicing proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette; and routine cleaning of high traffic areas in school buildings.
