In order to assist districts in their school-year planning, the Oregon Department of Education has historically produced an annual school calendar listing holidays, inservice days, school weeks, and relevant statutes and rules. However, since all of this information is now available elsewhere online, 2012-13 will be the last year ODE will produce this document.
Helpful Resources for Planning Your Calendar
Spring Break in Oregon school districts has historically aligned with the Oregon University System academic calendar. However, school districts do have the freedom to select an alternate spring break if they so choose. To access the OUS academic calendar through the 2015-16 school year,
Oregon’s statewide inservice is always held the second Friday in October.
The following are legal holidays in Oregon: Each Sunday, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr’s Birthday, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If a holiday (other than Sunday) occurs on a Sunday, the following Monday will be a legal holiday. If a holiday occurs on a Saturday, the preceding Friday will be a legal holiday.
