Special Education Post School Outcomes

The State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Review (SPP/APR) requires all states to report the percentage of youth who are competitively employed, enrolled in post secondary school, or both, within one year of leaving high school.

Exit Interviews: Districts are given the option to collect information from exiting students, interview the student to determine what the student wants to be doing in the next 12 months, and collect contact information on family and friends that will help locate the student for the required interview the following year.

Required Follow-up Interview: All districts collect follow-up postschool outcome data between April and July, by interviewing selected students who exited the prior year. Selection of students for follow-up interviews is based on the Special Education Exit Collection completed the previous June. The data collection provides ODE with the distribution of exited students by school/program, race/ethnicity, disability, gender, and method of exit. The number of district students to be interviewed is based on a combination of district and school/program size.
