Educational Technology - Assessment and Evaluation

Students at Computers

Assessment The requirements of the Title IID program require districts and the Oregon Department of Education to report on technological literacy of students by the end of eighth grade and the increased ability of teachers to integrate technology into curriculum and instruction. In order to meet this reporting requirement, the Oregon Department of Education is requiring districts receiving Title IID funding to administer the Florida Student Tool for Technology Literacy http://oregonst2l.flinnovates.org and the Inventory of Teacher Technology Skills http://oregonitts.flinnovates.org. Data from this evaluation will be used for meeting federal reporting.

ODE has worked with the Ed Tech Evaluation Stakeholder Group to discuss the evaluation of educational technology for students, teachers and schools. The recommendation from the Ed Tech Evaluation stakeholder group was to use the Florida tools for state data collection because they closely aligned with the Oregon Educational Technology Standards.

At this time, there are only 19 districts in the state receiving Title IID: Enhancing Education Through Technology Competitive Subgrants. These are the only districts required to report on use of Title IID funds. In addition to evaluation of their specific projects, these districts will need to evaluate the technology literacy of their eighth grade student population and the inventory of Teacher Technology Skills for teachers participating in the grants.

Other districts interested in using the Florida tools should contact Carla Wade at carla.wade@state.or.us.
