SIF Data Collection Made Easy
Thursday, 1 October 2009
SIF Data Collection Instructions Ready for Oct. 29 - Nov. 30
The School Improvement Fund (SIF) is established by the state to support areas directly related to increasing student achievement. School districts, education service districts, and eligible programs have flexibility within the grant guidelines to determine specific evidenced-based areas that will lead to school improvement. SIF Grants for 2007-2008 were awarded in November 2007. Grantees are eligible for a second year of funding to support the areas described in their 2007 grant applications.
As directed in Oregon Senate Bill 318, the Department is responsible for collecting data from all SIF Grant recipients. SB 318 also stipulates that grant recipients align their SIF activities with performance targets. To satisfy this requirement, the Department asked grant recipients in their grant applications to align each SIF allowable area selected with at least one state
Key Performance Measure (KPM)
. These KPMs were developed by the Department and adopted by the 2007 Legislature to quantify school improvement effort and progress. The Department will use this data to compile a report to present to the Legislature in February 2009.
