PD Portal for the Oregon K-12 Literacy Framework Now Open!
As the result of reform efforts that began with the Oregon Act for the 21st Century expectations for students, and consequently teachers, have been raised. To meet these new expectations, educators are being asked to master new skills and responsibilities and deepen their content knowledge. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is one way to meet these needs.
State Improvement Grant - Reading
The SIG, called Project PURSUIT, focuses on professional development for K-12 teachers of students with disabilities. Training is designed to improve reading achievement using a Three -Tiered Model of Support, Universal, Targeted, and Intensive.
Professional Development for the Oregon K-12 Literacy Framework
This site contains professional development training modules and related resources for each of the six components of the Oregon K-12 Literacy Framework: Goals, Assessment, Instruction, Leadership, Professional Development and Commitment.
Oregon School Library Information System - OSLIS
Tutorials and training videos for educators on a variety of research topics called out in Oregon's content standards are available through OSLIS, Oregon's educational portal to the Internet and licensed Lexiled databases. Access to OSLIS is free to all Oregon districts; the OSLIS partnership includes the Oregon State Library (OSL), the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), and the Oregon Association of School Libraries (OASL).
Oregon Writing Project

The Oregon Writing Project (OWP), an NCLB approved provider, is offered through Oregon's higher education institutions. Oregon’s five project sites provide a variety of K-12 professional development for teachers as writers and teachers as instructors of writing.
ReadOregon
ReadOregon offers online literacy courses and modules through five of Oregon's public university teacher education programs. ReadOregon courses encompass 7 thematic areas (literacy foundations; literacy strategies and methods; literacy for diverse learners; literacy assessment; leadership in school reading programs; literature; and practicum) and 4 authorization levels (early childhood, elementary, middle school, and high school).
