Oregon Common Core State Standards Website
Standards-based education is the process of basic teaching, learning and assessment that focuses on national, state, and local educational standards. Academic Content Standards are statements of what students are expected to know and be able to do at specified grade levels.
On October 28, 2010 the State Board of Education adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts & Literacy.

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts (ELA) & Literacy are the foundation of the K-12 Oregon Diploma; the Essential Skills for reading and writing are embedded within the CCSS.

English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards
The ELP Standards are designed to supplement the ELA standards to ensure that LEP students develop proficiency in both the English language and the concepts and skills contained in the ELA standards.
