Cascade AIDS Project


A leading agency in the response to the HIV epidemic in
Oregon and Southwest Washington


Agency Description

It is the mission of the Cascade AIDS Project to support men, women, and youth affected by HIV disease and AIDS, prevent the spread of HIV in populations at highest risk, and advocate for an effective comunity response to the epidemic.

Through its HIV client service and education/prevention programs, and with a $3.5 million annual budget, Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) supports almost 2,000 people with HIV and 2,950 of their family members, and educates over 32,000 people each year in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

CAP provides direct services, such as emergency financial assistance, transportation, emotional and practical support, and Spanish-language services; housing services, including emergency, transitional, and permanent housing, furnishings and financial assistance; prevention and education services, like HIV+ speaker presentations to the public and in schools, teen peer educator workshops, support and wellness programs for sexual minority youth, gay and bisexual men; and advocacy services, including legal assistance, HIV-AIDS information Hotline, lobbying, public policy and client advocacy on HIV issues all across Oregon.

CAP relies on over 700 volunteers for over 42,000 hours of support annually.
