Personnel Development Committee

Purpose:

The purpose of the Personnel Development Committee (PDC) is to recommend to the SACSE actions and advice for the Oregon Department of Education to assure that qualified personnel are trained, provided current and effective resources, and have access to timely and accurate information to achieve improved success for each child in Oregon's schools and educational programs.

Responsibilities:

The PDC considers the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Comprehensive System of Personnel Development and the appropriate elements of the Department's leadership in the recruitment and retention of qualified personnel to educate individuals with disabilities, birth to 21 years of age.

Membership:

The Personnel Development Committee is composed of members of the SACSE and others who are knowledgeable and able to influence resources relative to securing the goal of qualified personnel. Recruitment will be first an effort between the PDC and the SACSE. Members serve to assist the PDC in making informed and effective recommendations. The PDC will include on a continuing basis faculty members from at least three institutions of higher education, a special education administrator, a school principal, a special education instructor, a superintendent and/or general education administrator, a general education representative, a representative of EI/ECSE and a parent and/or community advocate.
