Welcome to Getting Started! This section is intended to assist the new visitor to our website in understanding the mysterious world of school finance and to provide tips on interpreting the data that is available here. It provides information about school finance terminology and processes and describes the contents of the database.

Gives a quick lesson in school finance in Oregon. It defines terms; explains governmental accounting; and describes the budget process as required in Oregon Local Budget Law.
About Our Database
Explains the types of data that are available in the database. This section outlines some of the reasons that costs may vary among schools, such as the number of special needs students or the size and location of the school.
Data Analysis - Questions and Indicators
Lists potential database indicators. The list was created through the combined input of a series of focus group worksessions attended by a cross-section of ODE, legislative, and public representatives.
