BPI project
Adequate yearly progress decisions and the publication of Oregon’s annual report cards for
schools and districts are two of the most time-sensitive, quality-dependent, and high-stakes
processes for the Oregon Department of Education. Ensuring quality and timely data
throughout the extremely complex, interwoven processes that manage data from schools to
final production of reports requires heroic human effort and efficient computer
applications.
The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) Office of Assessment and Information Services
(OAIS) secured the services of ESP Solutions Group (ESP) to perform a review and analysis of
the current internal business processes used in the production of their Adequate Yearly
Progress /Report Card (AYP)/RC) publications and to provide recommendations for process
improvement or re-engineering to minimize the risks of errors while maintaining timely
delivery. ESP collaborated with the staff of OAIS to bring together Oregon’s expertise with
ESP’s insights from working with the U.S. Department of Education and other states in the
collection, management, and reporting of data to meet the requirements of the No Child
Left Behind Act and state accountability mandates.
