Level 3 - In-Depth Practice for High School Teachers

Level 3 contains TWO workshops, 1 for English Language Arts teachers and 1 for content area teachers. Both are designed to be presented by a local facilitator to high school teachers. Length of each workshop is about 3 to 4 hours.

Focus of Workshops
  • Understanding of Adolescent Literacy and impact of the CCSS & Oregon Literacy Framework
  • Understanding of different types and uses of classroom assessments
  • Understanding of using reading assessment data and progress monitoring to improve high school achievement in reading for all students
  • Review of requirements for Essential Skill of Reading
  • In-depth understanding of Official Oregon Reading Scoring Guide
  • Practice applying Scoring Guide to 10 samples student papers with emphasis on accuracy
  • Awareness of Common Core State Standards for Literacy and increased student requirements for text complexity
