If you have been invited to register, you will register for ONE of the following Institutes: Reading K-2, Reading 3-5(6), Math K-2, Math 3-5(6).

If your school team has not received a phone invitation from the Oregon Department of Education this opportunity is not available for you at this time. During this seminar, you will gain first-hand experience with an extensive set of tools, structures, and teaching routines designed to align with the research on how students learn math and to foster mathematically productive habits of mind and interaction that result in students’ achievement of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Mathematical Practice as follows:

1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
4. Model with mathematics.
5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
6. Attend to precision.
7. Look for and make use of structure.
8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
