The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) is offering three regional workshops to math coaches who attended the Math Summer Coaching Institute, Moving Math Education Forward (MMEF) facilitators and grant recipients, and math leaders from schools in Title I school improvement. The first workshop will focus on developing algebraic thinking. Each workshop will be one day in length and includes problem solving strategies and math content aligned to Oregon’s new math standards.
Where will the trainings be?
- Southern Oregon University, Ashland - December 1, 2009
- Salem Kroc Community Center, Salem - December 3, 2009
- Umatilla Morrow ESD, Pendleton - December 10, 2009
Each site will have follow-up trainings in February and March
Who needs to attend?
- Teams from the Math Summer Coaching Institute and the Moving Math Education Forward grant recipients are required to send, at a minimum, one person from their team.
- Moving Math Education Forward third day attendees are encouraged to attend.
- Schools in Title I School Improvement for math are encouraged to send a small team to support efforts for local capacity-building.
- Additional team members are welcome as space allows.
