CLOSED - Job Opening - Dean of Student Life (Oregon School for the Deaf)
The Oregon Department of Education/Oregon School for the Deaf is conducting a search for a Dean of Student Life. This position is permanent, full-time and is in management service.

ABOUT THE OREGON SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF
The Oregon School for the Deaf (OSD) provides direct 24-hour educational and residential services to approximately 120 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, kindergarten through 21. OSD acts as a resource to the entire state, providing special activities, consultation, and educational services to students, professionals, families and the public. OSD is an important part of the Oregon Department of Education's services to children, families and school districts in the state of Oregon. OSD provides comprehensive, specialized, educational services for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a setting that is communication-accessible through the use of American Sign Language by all staff. High quality teachers, educational support services specialists and residential staff work closely with parents, school districts, and other professionals and community partners to meet the needs of each child. Established in 1870, OSD is one of Oregon's oldest and proudest state-operated programs.

DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to direct, coordinate, evaluate, plan, supervise and implement the varied programs and activities necessary to insure that the wide age and developmental ranges of all residential students are met. In addition, the purpose is to create and maintain quality care and provide training and educational opportunities for students while they utilize the residential programs at OSD. The goal is that students are able to learn the life skills to successfully function independently in society. Creativity, innovation, and ability to motivate subordinates are key traits and skills of a person in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will at a minimum have:

Four years of experience in lead work, staff supervision, staff-technical, or professional-level work. This experience must have included participation in the management of a program, section, or unit including one or more of the following areas: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, or d) budget preparation.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent course work (144 quarter or 96 semester hours) in a field related to management, such as Business or Public Administration, or a field related to the program of the employing agency, may be substituted for three years of the required experience
