During school year 2012-13, ODE worked with Title III directors and stakeholders to create an updated Individual Student Report (ISR) for the English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) for use during the 2013-14 school year. After multiple opportunities for input, the final draft of the new version of the ISR was approved for use in September 2013. The ELPA ISR is the report that is sent home to parents, to keep families informed about how their students are doing in the process of English language acquisition via the annual ELPA. The new ISR features the updated performance standards (cut scores) as adopted in 2013, and the updated performance level descriptors for each domain. Other categories, such as comprehension, illocutionary and grammatical scores, were eliminated from the ISR, because that information is for teacher and classroom use, rather than for parents. This helped to streamline the new form for the parents. Attached below is a sample of the new form. It can also be viewed at http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=1224.
Please note that although the additional score reporting categories were eliminated from the parent's ISR, all information is still available and accessible for teachers and schools via the Online Reporting System in OAKS. As usual, the ISRs are available in both English and Spanish.
