Opportunity to Contribute to Assessment Policy on Essential Skills

ODE is seeking current or former educators with assessment expertise for the Essential Skills Review Panel. For this year’s recruitment, we are seeking panelists who have a high-level of familiarity with Smarter Balanced and test development as well as either experience teaching mathematics or experience working with English Language Learners and/or students with disabilities.

Responsibilities
AESRP makes recommendations on:
  1. The phasing in of Essential Skills for inclusion in the high school diploma and the modified diploma requirements;
  2. The adoption of assessment options to measure students’ proficiency in the approved Essential Skills for the purpose of the high school diploma or the modified diploma; and
  3. The achievement standards used to determine student eligibility for the high school diploma or the modified diploma.

Commitment
AESRP panelists serve a three-year term, which includes participation in three Friday meetings per year (conducted via WebEx or in person) as well as additional monthly or bi-monthly tasks that will last fewer than two hours.
