|Language Supports for English Learners Ready for Smarter Balanced Field Tests|
Starting in March, roughly 25,000 students in schools across Oregon will participate in the Smarter Balanced field tests for mathematics and English language arts, including students who are English language learners (ELLs). To support access for ELLs, Smarter Balanced has adopted several language supports. As participating schools gear up to prepare their students for the field tests, ODE would like to share the following article published by Education Week that provides a helpful overview of the Smarter Balanced language supports and how they may differ from states' existing accommodations for ELLs.
