|Career and Technical Education (CTE) Celebrated in February|
|Governor John Kitzhaber proclaimed February as Oregon Career and Technical Education month. The proclamation recognizes the applied and advanced academic instruction provided through CTE in collaboration with business, industry and labor partners. Oregon maintains approximately 650 secondary/postsecondary CTE programs, as well as the integrated Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) and related postsecondary education and training opportunities.
Through HB 2912 the Oregon Legislature provides $500,000 grant in aide to CTSOs to expand accessibility, program quality, and student leadership career development opportunities.
The 24 recipients of the CTE Revitalization Grant received a total of $8.8 M to revitalize CTE in Oregon.
“We celebrate all the partners—students, parents, business, union and community leaders, educators all through the pipeline, and many more—who are helping to transform CTE and achieve our shared vision of educational excellence and opportunity for all students.” Arne Duncan, US Secretary of Education.
Thanks to all for supporting Oregon CTE!
