|Student Mentoring/Monitoring/Acceleration Program Grant|
We are pleased to announce the next grant connected to Oregon’s Strategic Initiatives. As part of House Bill 3232, Strategic Initiatives for Student Success, there are several grants aimed at addressing the needs of underserved students in our schools and communities as we work toward our 40-40-20 goal. Key to this work are investments around mentoring, monitoring, and acceleration for underserved middle and high school students. The Student Mentoring/Monitoring/Acceleration Program Grant is designed to fund school districts, non-profit organizations, and other entities that provide culturally responsive wrap around services to underserved 8th and 9th graders at risk of not achieving six credits before entering 10th grade. Additionally, the goal of this grant funding is to provide a comprehensive system of support and monitoring for participating students to achieve or maintain a “C” or higher in all core subjects within the academic year. This grant support also recognizes the positive impact a mentoring, monitoring, and acceleration model reportedly has on academic improvement, student achievement, and attendance.
