|Closing Achievement Gaps for African American Students Grant|
|We are pleased to announce the next grant connected to Oregon’s Strategic Initiatives. As part of the new Network of Quality Teaching and Learning, there are several grants aimed at closing the academic achievement gap and promoting equity in our schools as we work toward our 40-40-20 goal. Paramount to the Network is the expansion of and support for non-profit organizations who are supporting African American students. The Closing Achievement Gaps for African American Students Grant is designed to create opportunities to increase academic outcomes for African American learners as well as to support strong links between home, school, and community. This grant opportunity recognizes community organizations that have the necessary focus, commitment, and passion to increase overall outcomes for African American students. The goal for this grant opportunity is to have an impact on the academic achievement and educational aspirations of African American students, while not forgetting that their social, emotional, and cultural needs must be supported as well.
