Eastern Oregon University Hosts Oregon Indian Education Association Youth Conference
The Oregon Indian Education Association Youth Conference, “Nurturing the Warrior: Building Skills for Success,” takes place September 21-22, 2013 and includes workshops on careers, leadership and culture. Members of Speel-Ya, Eastern Oregon University’s (EOU) Native American Student Council, selected the theme.

EOU alumnus Solo Greene, education specialist for the Nez Perce Tribe, is the keynote speaker and will discuss “Success: what is it?” Greene travels throughout the U.S. sharing experiences from his more than 20-year career in education.

A speech contest and basketball tournament will give participants the chance to win a $1,000 tuition waiver if they choose to attend EOU. The top prize in the speech contest is a trip to the National Indian Education Association annual convention in Rapid City, S.D. Students will also receive an EOU T-shirt and backpack, compliments of the Oregon Agriculture Foundation.
