We want you to be part of Oregon's State Network of Educators!

Smarter Balanced and Oregon are seeking 85 K-12 educators who have significant experience in formative assessment and deep knowledge of English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics Common Core State Standards (CCSS) to join Oregon's State Network of Educators and help review professional learning resources for the Smarter Balanced Digital Library.

State Network of Educators (SNE) The SNEs will work with Oregon's State Leadership Team and play a critical role in identifying, submitting, and vetting resources for the Digital Library. Specifically, between September, 2013 and September, 2014, SNEs will:
  • Receive five (5) web-based trainings
  • Propose and review content for the Library
  • Have early access to the resources and collaboration tools and use them for their professional learning
  • Provide feedback on the resources and the usability of the Library

We are looking for K-12 and higher education professionals with expertise in the CCSS for ELA and Mathematics and formative assessment who have served one or more of the following student types: General Education; Gifted and Talented; English Language Learners, and Students with Disabilities.
Digital Library Smarter Balanced is committed to providing resources, tools, and professional learning opportunities for educators so that they can tailor instruction to student needs based on information from a coherent, balanced assessment system. The heart of the formative practice resources is the Digital Library. The Digital Library is an online, user-friendly, searchable library for educators that contains only high quality vetted resources. It is interactive and allows educators from member states to use and rate resources and collaborate.
Smarter Balanced All children deserve an education that prepares them to take advantage of the wide array of career and education options available after high school.
Smarter Balanced is an educator-led consortium of states that helps schools fulfill this mission by providing high-quality assessments of student progress toward meeting the high expectations defined in the CCSS for English language arts and mathematics.
As a state-led organization comprised of K-12 and higher education leaders and educators, Smarter Balanced strives for quality, innovation, transparency, efficiency and fairness in the development of a formative, interim, and summative assessment system to improve teaching and learning and to support accountability.

SNE's are eligible for a $1500 stipend and professional development units. All qualified educators are invited to apply.
